The first cave you slip into has a tunnel dug into the wall, and a tunnel dug into the ceiling. You smile at the vague smell of fruit that filters through the air(Quite unlike the normal musty cave smell), and you take a step further into the cave. It is big, you notice; way bigger than the other caves you saw. Quite quickly you reason that alot of it was probably scratched away to make room for whatever it was that lived there, and you give an involuntary shudder at the thought of what might be that big. Along with the scary ideas of what 'it' might be, you experience strong desires not to have to discover that piece of information, and turn to leave... As you turn to step out of the cave, however, you notice something on the floor: a large, pink feather. You gasp, and lean over to pluck it from the ground, feeling how smooth and soft it is. It's longer than your arm, yet still "light as a feather", and as you hold it, you feel yourself forgetting some of your earlier fears.
"After all, what could possess such a feather and not be as glorious as it?!"
You hesitantly drift back into the cave, chiding yourself for your indecision, when suddenly, from the back of the cave comes a smooth chuckle. You stifle a gasp, drop the feather, and trip over yer own two feet all at once; to make matters worse, when you look up, a great, green head is looming over you. It's a dragon. Vivid lime eyes flash with ammusement, and his pink-dappled face isn't unfriendly like you imagine a dragon's should be, but you are still uncertain. You push yourself up a wee bit, but don't rise any further and after a few minutes of you both looking at each other, the green dragon grabs your shirt collar in a single clawed hand as large as your chest and lifts you up all the way up, so your feet dangle just touching the ground. He peers at you with curious eyes as your mouth hangs in a very undignified manner, until he gingerly pokes you with a claw from his other hand...
Silly human! why do you goggle at me like that? I'm just a flion! Your the one I should be goggling at! you look like fish out of water, gasping, gawking and goggling like that!
At this abrupt announcement, your jaw drops open even more than it already had. You'd heard about the magical creatures, but never before had you seen one this close. Even more amazing, it spoke like it was more than the dumb animals you always thought dragons were. You stammer some, but eventually quiet down enough (and allow the flion to quiet down some, for he was laughing at you quite fitfully) to speak again. He, seeing your willingness to speak now, drops his head so he's level with your own, and eyes you with a much more serious glance so he could hear you better.
"I...I...I'm sorry, I guess, then, for um... gasping and uhh... gog... gawggling... gokling... err..."
He interupts you with a wave of his beautiful pink wings, sensing your obvious disability to speak clearly. Eyes twinkled as he slowly lifted you off the ground and onto his back inbetween a pair of large spikes. A squeak is all you manage to blurt as out Your legs drape over the shoulders of his wings, and you frantically grasp around his neck. Suddenly, you feel rather unsure if this would be the best idea and are about to get off when he pushes himself up on his front legs and lumbers to the entrance to the cave is. In an instant, he's out of the cave entrance and is taking you up through the field to a small path in the rocks. The whole landscape seems to glimmer with emerald colors, and many of the caves you pass have rich, green jewels imbedded in footpath. Finally, you get over the treetops, where the rockface is bare and empty. You gaze around and are about to speak when he turns his massive, glorious head, nudges you (which causes you to frantically grasp his spikes), and leaps with the skill and ease of a bounding deer into the air.
You grip his smooth, snake-skin body with your knees as you would a horse, your legs snuggly wedged against his shoulders... never a smoother ride have you experienced, you decide as he takes you wordlessly over the forest and green-tinted stone. Magic is the only word you can use to describe such glory... Higher, higher and then still higher he climbs, until you can look down and only see a sea of green... you, in your slow-witted human ways, suddenly realize why it's called emerald caves and open your mouth to say something about your discovery to the flion, when a small, green-capped, brown-and-tan bird flrutters near you. It is smaller and fatter than anything you have ever seen before, and when you reach out to touch it, it lands on your hand. It's feathers are soft to the touch, and it's little heart beats quickly against your finger as you stroke it with the other hand. Hardly do you remember that you ride on a dragon, you are so enchanted by the small bird.
With a jolt, the flion swoops into a dive, and you remember to grab onto his spikes as he swoops down. All thoughts of the bird are swept aside... until you look back and see nothing but a small green glimmer against the blue sky... then the flion is heading down, down down... and into the cave, where he settles down like a cat, laying with his muzzle on his paws like nothing ever happened
You, small human, are very good at being silly. You justs got some information to store in your mind... you know what it's like to soar. The Mistriss even approves of your being here. If you wish, you may leave now. But let me warn you, the dayons that live around here are good at playing tricks, so you should keep an eye out for any from the dayon tribe
He lets you slide down to floor of the cave, giving no further explination to that.
